Tuesday at Marlborough

It was a bright start to the day and all the boys were on great form despite a very tiring first day. Everyone seems happy in their English classes and are speaking a lot of English with their teachers and with the other students from around the world, who are becoming their friends. 

The afternoon activities were a great success again. Some of the boys went rifle shooting, which was extremely exciting and they made some friends from England, France and Germany. 

Benedict's Report

All the boys were brought in by their homestay families and gathered on the duelling lawn to register with Summer School. It was a rainy morning but spirits were high and everybody seemed very excited to get going. After registration the boys were taken to their English classes where they sat a short test in order to establish their ability. They all told Benedict that they didn’t find the test too hard at all! At break the boys ate lots of jam donuts and then returned to their classes where they were divided into different groups. After their morning English classes they walked to Preshute where they had lunch (meatballs and spaghetti) and then relaxed in the grounds. The rain had disappeared by now so they could enjoy the sun. The boys were then divided into groups for their afternoon activities. Some were doing 'Multi Sports', which involved playing Basketball and Handball. Some chose 'On Target' where they practised archery. Others chose 'Teenage Outdoor Activities’ - this was particularly exciting as the boys had to get through an obstacle course and ferry themselves across a river on a raft (they got a bit wet!). The boys had a quick break with some tea and biscuits and all signed up for the evening activity, which involved playing ‘Capture the Flag’ and a quick game of Dodgeball. By the time the homestay families came to pick the boys up at 7pm they were very tired but everyone had had a wonderful day.

Life at Marlborough College

During the year, Marlborough College operates as a private secondary school. Recently the school became more famous because Prince William's wife Kate Middleton and her sister Pippa studied there. Of course the Tokai boys are probably not so interested in that fact!

A Fun Day One!

The boys got off to a great start today. Here are some pictures from various parts of the day. Everything is going well and we are all happy with their attitude.

The boys are all happily getting used to their homestay family life. We have received very positive news about how well they are doing. For example:

They are fitting in very well. Its working very well with no Japanese being spoken and lots of good English and joining in with a normal life at "home"

This message came from one family. We were very happy to hear this. We also got some nice pictures of Shinnosuke playing with the young children kindly in his family. Heart-warming. Well done, everybody!!!!

Not long now until the boys arrive. They will probably be very tired but we are very excited to see them!

First Meetings

The first time we meet new people it's important to make a good impression. We do this by:

• Smiling
• Shaking hands
• Looking at the person you are meeting in the eye
• Greeting them in a clear and friendly voice. It can be a simple "Hello!"

It really is that easy!

At 12:15 yesterday, I saw the Emirates plane coming in. This is the plane that will carry the boys to us next month. It's such a miracle to be able to travel so far and so easily. We shouldn't forget that!

JAPAN CORNER

The best way to learn something is to teach something. While you are in U.K. you will have a chance to show off some Japanese things to the other students. We call this Japan Corner and it's a highlight for everybody. What Japanese things do you want to show people?

First Sight of Marlborough College

This is one of the first sights you will see when you arrive at Marlborough College. It's the main gate of the school. Is it like the gate of Tokai? You will walk through these gates several times a day for two weeks.
