Japan Corner

Today the boys made a display of some of the things that they brought over from Japan to show to the other students and families at Summer School. Everyone was extremely interested in what the boys had on offer and were eager to take part and spoke a lot of English in the process. Some boys showed people how to write Kanji, others made Japanese tea and gave people Japanese sweets to try and others showed people Judo. It was a great success and we were all very proud of the boys. WELL DONE!

A Fun Time

Homestay Life

Yuichi and Tsuyoshi are having a nice time with their homestay family. Their homestay mother described them as "delightful".

Zorbing! That's a Tokai Boy Inside!

In the evening the boys swam in the swimming pool and then did ‘Zorbing’ which involves getting inside one of these large inflatable balls and rolling around! Everybody had a fantastic time.

Kendo in an English Garden

Here are some pictures of Sena and Koji practicing Kendo in the garden. Their homestay family is very impressed!

Paintballing!

Some of the other boys did paint balling this afternoon and got dressed up like proper fighters! They made lots of new friends from around the world.

In Fashion!

Here are some pictures of the work that Taiki has been doing in his ‘Fashion’ afternoon activity. He has made a bag and some T-shirts!

Language Classes

Here are some pictures of the boys in their English classes, which they have every morning. They are really enjoying them and are encouraged to speak a lot of English. Marlborough College Summer School were making a promotional video in the morning and asked several students to answer some questions in front of the camera. They did extremely well and gave some very good answers.

Raft Building

Good Students

The boys had their picture taken as a group outside the language school where they have English lessons every morning. All the teachers are very complimentary about the Tokai boys, who are well-behaved, polite and positive. 



It's great to see them doing so well on the programme. They spent some of the morning around Marlborough town for one of their class challenges - they spoke to various shopkeepers and people on the street. In the afternoon, some of the boys went clay pigeon shooting with real shotguns! It was extremely exciting and the boys were extremely accurate shots considering it was all their first time shooting a gun! One of the groups of boys made their own rafts and had a race across the lake. One of the rafts fell apart so everybody got a little bit wet but the water wasn’t cold. Shinya swam across the lake and was still smiling when he walked ashore! In the evening the boys played football and played on a giant foamy waterslide which was great fun for everybody. 

Meanwhile, in Ireland

Meanwhile in Ireland, the boys have settled in and are having a lot of fun. they are all staying with local families, studying English in the mornings and doing various sightseeing trips in the afternoons.

The group in Scotland are having a great time. They have visited museums, participated in a talent show, are doing their English lessons and sharing rooms in this building with Spanish and Russian students. All is going well so far.

Tennis and the Mayor!

Some of the other boys played tennis and some were even lucky enough to meet the mayor of Marlborough, who popped in for a visit during tea time in her regalia - the boys were very impressed and spoke to her about the Mayor of Nagoya. The evening activity was spent playing ‘Jail Break’ with friends from England, China, France and Italy.
